BT Loves Those Flashy TaTa's?

While the world learned of the new TaTa from India today, these vehicles can be purchased for as little as $2,500.00 a piece.

The first fleet of vehicles that come to mind are for the Salisbury Fire Department. I can see the Chief now driving his new TaTa down the road with his High Beams Flashing.

I say, if the SFD can order $950,000.00 Fire Trucks and a $10,000,000.00 Fire Station, it's time to cut corners elsewhere. IF you don't like your free ride, go work somewhere else.

So I say, why shouldn't the Chief and Fire Staff have their own flashy TaTa's? Lead by example, right?

Oh Look, it even has a BRA on the front of IT!

It's Not Always The Blondes....

These contractors have spent the day installing the steel pillars in concrete to stop vehicles from parking on the pavement outside a Sports Bar downtown. They are now in the process of cleaning up at the end of the day and are anxious to go home.

How long do you think it will be before they realize where their vehicle is parked?

Hebron's Sirens Are Going Off Again

Be very careful on your way home from work today Folks. I received a call a little while ago where a woman in a gold Toyota flipped her car in a single car accident near Johnson Road on the Bypass.

A former Police Officer was fortunately there telling people to STOP trying to get the woman out of the car and wait for help. People were crawling in the broken windows as she was suspended from her seat belt. I'm told people we reacting like her car was on fire and it was not. They were spraying fire extinguishers on the front end because of steam, not fire.

Anyhow, their intent was good, they just didn't know what they were doing. The car had flipped and was leaning against some trees and one guy went so far as to start cutting off branches when my friend stopped them because if he continued the car would have flipped over even more.

Have a great weekend everyone but take it easy, you'll get there later than sooner and that's more important, isn't it?

Should Be Another Record Day

Leave it to Barrie Tilghman and The Daily Times to put SBYNEWS.COM over the top once again. It's only 3:30 PM and we're already close to a record day.

Sadly, the Daily Times always refuses to print the actual address to Salisbury News and or mention the actual Blog Site name. They like to say things like, Joe Albero or Weblog.

That's OK though. Obviously when you Google my name it brings you to the Blog, or shall I say, Salisbury News.

Let me see if I can make your weekend Barrie. The hits are averaging around 2,000 people/visits per hour. YOU DO THE MATH!

I'd also like to thank G.A. Harrison for his wisdom and words in this morning's article about the Mayor, the Zoo and me. We're fortunate enough to have someone with such qualities on board and I'm looking forward to a banner year in 2008.

One Year Ago Today

Can Mayor Barrie Tilghman Ever Tell The Truth?

"Joe I submitted this to the DELMARVA Times in reply to the artical. Please post on your site as well.

As one who went through the interview process, the mayor personally mentioned Joe. She is lying to the citizens of the community. Because of that, I contacted Joe directly and informed him with information that she was lying.

If you interview with someone and then later catch them in a lie, would you want to work for them?

I loved the community and that zoo. Your community has much to offer, just needs to get a few things in order before any professional would take on the challenges. The challenges are not so great to turn things around. If you are expecting to remain accredited, the timeline is "daunting" and may not be possible (and more than likely not). For a true professional that wants to be challenged, we would not be scared off by the "what if's", but more driven by the "what can be". That zoo or any professionally run zoo can meet accreditation if the right person is there to lead.

Some in the process had very firm views on not charging admission, not relocating, staffing (and their qualifications/professionalism to remain), we want this but not that. However, we want the director to be more "autonomous", once again conflicting messages. When needing to improve the overall image, operation, goals of any institution/business no options should to be taken off the table, before getting started.

The most important factor to all this, is get your house in order first by doing all the right stuff business wise and ethically, then accreditation will fall into place regardless of any deadlines.

Good luck to all there, I KNOW the community supports the zoo. Why else would so many people in the community talk so passionately about it, from both the Mayor and Joe."

Editor's Note: For the record, this author did not know me or have any contact with me until after his/her interview process was complete.

Barrie Tilghman Tries to Have It Both Ways Regarding Zoo Director

Salisbury Mayor Barrie Tilghman is again trying to show that she is the most Clintonesque politician on the Eastern Shore. In today's Daily Times we are treated to an article where the Mayor infers (where else would reporter Greg Latshaw have come up with the bizarre notion) that Joe Albero is somehow responsible for the newly hired Zoo Director Lisa Tate resigning before she even cleared Idaho.

The Mayor claims that the subject of Albero "came up in interviews", but "was a non-issue". Please! Did Mayor Tilghman bring the subject up. I have a hard time believing that a candidate interviewing for the job would ask the Mayor questions about a blog. Not answered in Latshaw's article is a response from Tilghman regarding Tate's reported lawsuit against Zoo Boise.

The most amusing, and Clinton-like, remarks from the Mayor were, again, regarding Albero:

I've been very impressed in the ability of the professionals to put something as inconsequential as a blog behind them.

It must be remembered that Tilghman (as well as Salisbury Police Chief Allan Webster) is currently suing Albero. What does this say about the character and professionalism of Tilghman and Webster?

Club for Growth PAC Releases New Ad in Md-01

Gilchrest and Pipkin = Pelosi and O’Malley

Washington – Today, the Club for Growth PAC released a new television and radio ad in a $250,000 ad buy across Maryland’s First Congressional District (see ads here).

Entitled “Four of a Kind,” the television ad points out that Wayne Gilchrest voted with Nancy Pelosi and liberal Democrats more often than any other Republican House member (CQ Politics) and that E.J. Pipkin joined the Democrats in voting for Governor Martin O’Malley’s massive, big-spending FY 2008 budget (HB 50, 04/02/07). “Maryland Republicans deserve better than Nancy Pelosi and Martin O’Malley look-alikes,” said Club for Growth President Pat Toomey. “They deserve a principled conservative like State Senator Andy Harris.”

Entitled “Masquerade,” the radio ad demonstrates that Gilchrest and Pipkin are pretending to be conservatives, but beneath their masks, they are two economic liberals who side with Pelosi and Governor O’Malley. Pipkin even voted for an eminent domain bill (HB 907, 04/04/05), giving the government the power to take private property from one person and give it to another and donated money to Democrat Kathleen Kennedy Townsend’s campaign. That doesn’t sound very conservative.

“No matter what Wayne Gilchrest and E.J. Pipkin say on the campaign trail, their records demonstrate that they are not conservative, and they will not fight for taxpayers in Congress,” Mr. Toomey added. “In Congress, Gilchrest has a long record of voting for pork, voting for tax hikes, and voting against political free speech. In the Maryland State Legislature, Pipkin has demonstrated a similar tendency, voting for massive increases in government spending and eminent domain abuse.”

“In stark contrast, Andy Harris has a long track record of voting against bloated state budgets and fighting tax increases. If elected to Congress, Andy Harris will be a congressman Maryland Republicans can be proud of.”

The $250,000 ad buy will run on broadcast and cable television stations and radio stations in the Baltimore and Salisbury markets for two weeks. The scripts are below and documentation is attached.

TV: 30 “Four of a Kind”

Who’s more liberal? Wayne Gilchrest or E.J. Pipkin?

In Washington, Gilchrest voted with Nancy Pelosi and liberal Democrats more often than other Republican in the entire Congress

It’s a fact

Pipkin joined the liberals and voted for Martin O’Malley’s massive, big-spending budget

Gilchrest or Pipkin?

[Laugh] That’s like asking Pelosi or O’Malley

Maryland Republicans deserve better

Radio: 60 “Masquerade”

The Republican race for Congress in Maryland’s First District has become a masquerade ball

Two candidates, Wayne Gilchrest and E.J. Pipkin, are liberals in disguise

Take off Wayne Gilchrest’s mask and you’ll find a congressman who voted with Nancy Pelosi more often than any other Republican

And E.J. Pipkin? He’s at the same ball. Pipkin joined the liberals and voted for Martin O’Malley’s massive, big-spending budget

Pipkin voted to expand eminent domain powers so government could take your private property and give it to someone else

Pipkin even donated money to Kathleen Kennedy’s campaign for governor

Fortunately, Maryland Republicans can end this dance

Andy Harris is a conservative who opposed the O’Malley budget and is endorsed by Governor Bob Ehrlich

On February 12th, vote for Andy Harris and send a conservative to Congress

Newt Gingrich Endorses Wayne Gilchrest - or Did He?

According to the Daily Times headline, "Gingrich Stumps for Gilchrest". The article notes that Gilchrest is an "old friend" of Gingrich. Of course Newt's "stumping" was limited to the confines of a fundraiser. The Baltimore Sun is a bit more honest when it quotes the former Speaker:
Wayne is an old friend," he said. "If only for his leadership on the Chesapeake Bay, he was a person worthy to be in Congress.

That's one hell of an endorsement. It was almost as tepid as former Lt. Gov. Michael Steele:
In 2006, "the American people basically slapped us upside the head," he
said, adding that they demand "we get it right. ... We cannot get there
by trying to beat Republicans."

Sure enough Mike. The American people justifiably slapped the GOP upside the head precisely because we supported the likes of Wayne Gilchrest, Arlen Specter, Lincoln Chafee, and a slew of hogs who had bellied up to the Bush-endorsed trough of "borrow and spend". The party of Reagan had totally abandoned its principles of fiscal responsibility and small government.

While I certainly am disappointed at Gingrich even appearing at a (pre-primary) fundraiser for Gilchrest, at least Newt didn't lower himself by claiming that Gilchrest is a man of principle.

Bill Duvall On A Roll This Morning

Not One attack. Not Two Attacks. Not Three Attacks, Duvall is just on a roll blasting anyone and everyone he can today because he's old, he's bitter and most of all, he's a Lawyer.

Bill goes after Rick Pollitt, Andy Harris, Me, the list just goes on and on. No mention of the Zoo article this morning. Why, because old man Duvall knows I've been right about everything down there at the Zoo.

All I can tell you is this Folks. Rick Pollitt has turned out to be every one's friend. Well, with exception to one perhaps. Andy Harris is one hell of a nice guy, a great family man and has your best interest at heart, PERIOD! You won't find many politicians as honorable as Andy Harris, so why Bill picks on him is simply because I support him. Remember now, Billy liked Harris up until I was chosen to have an exclusive with the Harris Campaign every Monday. Billy liked Terry & Debbie and now he can't stand them.

Mike Lewis has turned out to be every one's friend and a great guy, yet old man Duvall has it out for Mike as well because he believes he can break the respect between Mike and I. Sorry Bill but it's just not going to happen.

All those rumors about just how bad a guy Joe Albero is, they were wrong and quite frankly I'm glad Barrie Tilghman played me out to be this "Bad Guy." For those people who have come to know me, they know darned well who I am and what I'm all about. When and if I ever turn, well, you've got to be pretty screwed up for me to do so and or attacking me or my Family.

That being said, I feel for you Old Man Duvall. You remind me of Frenchie on Hogan's Hero's. You are FRENCH, aren't you little man? Anyhow, if you're good this year I'll go out and buy you a 4x4 scooter for handicapped people jacked up like those tiny Firemen like them and help you be a bigger man.

Oh well, we deal with yet another day of Bill Duvall on this earth.
