Just a few points I'd like to make. First of all, there were 5,200 tickets sold out of a 5,380 total seats available. The 180 tickets not sold were comp tickets for the Promoter, trainer and press.

The Civic Center Staff said "It was the best thing to ever happen to the Civic Center."

They added that there have only been two other events that had the same kind of ticket sales. The Monster Trucks and Carrie Underwood, (sp?).

Hal Chernoff told me that Fernando's opponent was having a difficult time walking and getting around when he went to go catch his plane. DUH! More to come.......

WWTP Spills Again

I’ve waited nearly a week to see if anything was going to be reported to the public about the recent spill at the WWTP. Although the claims are it was a small spill, roughly 500 gallons, a spill of untreated sewage is still a spill. I couldn’t find a thing in the Daily Times through their search engine nor could I find anything on WBOC’s website. However, WMDT did put up a little blurb stating the spill was very small and none of it reached the river. LIARS!!!! I seriously doubt they would have known anything about it had a passerby not called them and told them the sh!t was flowing once again from the WWTP.

After WMDT received a call from a passerby that witnessed this spill they in turn called the GOB. Jim Caldwell verified the spill and contacted the press stating “the discharge would not require public posting”. In other words, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF DO NOT BROADCAST.

Now, if none of this untreated crap went into the river why did Tom Mesick tell Dave Winslow ROUGHLY 500 gallons of sewage was lost into the storm drain at North Side Pump Station? If the crap went into the storm drain it went into the river, end of story. Are we to believe they sent someone into the drains to scoop it up? Sure they did, I’ll bet Bubba was right in there with a shovel in hand. NOT! According to Dave Winslow the SCADA system was totally shut down at the North Side Pump Station AND at the South Side Pump Station therefore no control and no monitoring of these stations. He also said there were no pumps running at North Side Pump Station. Dave Winslow and the rest of that crew might want to be thankful those pumps were down; otherwise we could have had yet another major spill into the Wicomico River. In case you haven’t heard, the river is near death and they want to keep a spill quiet because it was only 500 gallons…ROUGHLY. How can they estimate anything when their monitoring systems were down? These people are so full of sh!t they stink worse than the WWTP.

The following information was gathered from Daily Times articles I’ve saved, accuracy is questionable considering I’m using them as a source.

December 18, 2007 the Daily Times reported close to 900,000 gallons of sewage was spilled in the first 3 quarters of 2007.

February 7, 2008 173,000 gallons of sewage is spilled.
February 9, 2008. The Wicomico River is closed.
March 25, 2008 The Wicomico River is closed.
March 26, 2008 28,000 gallons of sewage dumped through the storm drain.
June 17, 2008. An estimated 21,037 gallons of sewage is spilled.
June 17, 2008 The Wicomico River is closed.
June 19, 2008. An estimated 48,140 gallons of sewage is spilled.

Since the attitude is and it might be a rule of MDE, they don’t have to post publicly when smaller spills occur it’s anyone’s guess, other than Barrie Tilghman and her flunkies at Public Works, exactly how much has actually been dumped into the river since the last major spill. What’s 500 gallons of raw sewage here and there into a dying river?

Makes me wonder, if that passerby hadn't called WMDT would we know anything about this spill? Obviously, NOT

Sally's Benefit

I would like to thank everyone who came to the benefit yesterday. The benefit was a smashing success. The restaurant/bar was packed. The kids had fun with a bounce house and face painting. The men had fun sitting at the bar, watching the football game.
Thank you to Mark (sorry I didn't get your last name), who helped raise $400. He agreed to chop his ponytail and donate it to Locks of Love if $400 was raised towards his haircut donation. Within a few hours, the money was raised for his haircut.
Thanks also to Dr. & Mrs. David Schiff. They donated their biker run winnings back to Sally.
The silent auctions were a smashing success. The largest pay-out was for Hooper's Crabhouse, thier donation was a basket including 2 shirts, 2 mallets, seasoning and a dinner and drinks for 4. It went for $260.
The 50/50 was at $1300, so half went to Sally, which was awesome.
All in all, the total which was deposited into Sally's benefit account was just over $8000.
Sally is very greatful for all the support and generosity. Thanks again, for everyone's support.

Who, What, When, Where, Why, How

Just the facts! That's what I was taught, whether watching Joe Friday, or learning how to report for my school paper. Just the facts.

Where is this type of reporting today? Has it always been biased and edited to promote someone or something? If it was, it was never realized. Maybe we should compare it to TV wrestling. When we were kids, we thought wrestling was real. It was a great show, and even though people would tell us it was fake, a made up story, we still thought it was real.

Now, the entire wrestling community knows it's scripted entertainment. They have admitted it, yet they still pack the house. It doesn't matter. Is that how our fixation with the media is? We know that what they are reporting isn't facts, but we don;t care. As long as the story keeps our eyes glued to the paper, or the TV, or our ear to the radio, we don't care. It's just more entertainment to pollute our already dumbed down minds.

Do you want just the facts? Or do you like the "fake" news they portray today? Can you tell there isn't much truth to the story the way it's presented? Or do you yearn for outlets like SBYNEWS? A place where you can debate real facts. A place where your opinion is just that, opinion and the facts are just that, real facts. Or do you like the smoke and mirror show that the press and media give you today?

Why Does it Take Entertainers to Get Democrats to Vote?

Cuba Gooding Jr. registered and got over 150 people to vote in Ohio this morning.
JZ is holding a free concert in Florida today where registration forms will be passed out, along with more absentee ballots.

ACORN had a press conference this morning and has claimed they have registered over 1.2 million people to vote. Saying that most of their registrants were Black and Hispanic.

Are any Black Americans not going to vote for Barrak?
I certainly understand the enormity of having a Black man to represent the Black populace of America, but I am deeply concerned that many are voting for him just because he is Black.
Doesn't integrity, experience, and honesty mean anything to Black Americans?

Obamas connections to ACORN is fact. Obamas reciept of money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is fact, and unprecedented in the amounts other than Chris Dodd's.
Are people more concerned about having a Black man in the office than they are about the kind of person that he is? He has lied about his family. He doesn't show up for work, and he associates with admitted domestic terrorists!

What's the deal?
I never needed a free concert, or a celebrity to talk me into voting.
On my 18th birthday I went and registered to vote and have voted in every single election that I have been eligible to vote in ever since!
This is a privilege that I have always taken very seriously, and just have no idea why this is so unimportant to supposed minorities.
If it takes a celebrity to get them interested in politics, and it takes a celebrity to convince them to vote, it makes me wonder if they will also take that celebrities word for who to vote for?
Will these newly registered voters actually study the backgrounds of the candidates?
Will they make an informed vote, or will they just vote for who the celebrity tells them to?
What I find even more appalling is P-Diddy's response to the news that John McCain selected Sarah Palin as his running mate. He posted a YouTube video in which he was unable to complete a simple sentence about his dissapointment in John McCains choice.
Why do people even take someone seriously who cannot even articulate a complete sentence?
This is appalling.
Enticement to vote is appalling, and witnessing the lenghts that this party is going to, to get a vote should make the Republicans double their efforts to make sure that everyone they know needs to get out and vote.
God Help Us!

Bend Over Citizens Of Salisbury, Mayor Tilghman Is About To Do It Again!

When you look at the Briefing Book you'll notice "The Bricks" project at 432-434 Isabella Street. The photo above is the property, "The Bricks" in which the Mayor is claiming it will cost the Taxpayers, ARE YOU READY, $1,875,000.00 to remodel for LOW INCOME HOUSING!

The Mayor and Louise Smith were trying to sell everyone on the old fire places in the project as well as the crown molding and they must save this for historical purposes.

Let me assure you, someone living in a low income housing project couldn't care less about molding and probably wouldn't take care of it in a rental as a homeowner would.

They don't discuss in the Briefing Book where all the funds are going to come from, making this project yet another very curious one. If they knew, (which I believe they do) where the money was coming from they'd simply say so. Sine they haven't, it will be yet another Citizen Bailout locally, similar to yet another project in the Briefing Book, the City Marina.

Each year for the past 3 years the Citizens have forked up $50,000.00 a year to help subsidize a private business renting this facility. Sell the damn property and be rid of this BS expense, period!

As for "The Bricks" project, there's an $30,000.00 incorporated in that fee for Legal Services as well. Boy, that Paul Wilber can just do no wrong and the Mayor is filling his pockets like there's no tomorrow.

It's time to get this Mayor and Gary Comegys OUT OF OFFICE along with Lore' Chambers and Louise Smith. With this economy you could purchase a Mansion for around $1,500,000.00 that is 4 times the size of this project ON THE RIVER for less money and it's brand new.

How do YOU feel about this Folks?

Media Tries to Shield Obama from Terrorist Ties ...

... and Myriad Other Sins.

Would we expect less?  The MSM is doing everything it can to shield "THE ONE" from his ties to domestic terrorists.

Bill Ayers participated in the bombings of a police memorial in Chicago, the New York City police HQ, the US Capitol and the Pentagon.  This is not supposition, or right wing propaganda.  Ayers proudly admits to these acts in his own memoir - Fugitive Days.

Barack Obama has "repudiated" the acts of someone "he barely knows".  Unfortunately, this is another example of "THE ONE" not being very honest with the citizens he wants to lead.  He knew Jeremiah Wright for 20 years, but never heard him make the kinds of comments that caused Obama to distance himself from the radical preacher.

It's similar with Ayers.  Obama claims to barely know Ayers, but it was Ayers who recruited Obama to serve on the board of the Chicago Annenberg Project.  Obama and Ayers served on another board together.  Ayers contributed to Obamas campaigns AND even hosted a campaign event for Obama during his first run for office.

What is the media's spin?  An Associated Press article (parts of which are in today's Daily Times) is typical:   Read More ...

Dow Jones Drops Below 10000

For the first time in I don't know how long, the DOW has dropped below 10,000 even with the Bailout. Buckle Up Folks!

Here's One Country I Won't Consider

"KUWAIT CITY - A Kuwaiti official says authorities abruptly ended a music concert by an Egyptian singer in this conservative Muslim country when a young female fan jumped on stage, hugged the male singer and gave him a kiss.

Qanas al-Adwani, who heads the government department that monitors public entertainment, says the girl's behavior at Friday's concert "defied the conservative traditions" of Kuwait.

Al-Adwani also said Sunday that the fan's behavior broke controls on public entertainment, which were imposed by influential Muslim fundamentalists after they failed in 1997 to ban concerts altogether. Concerts have to be licensed by the government, and monitors from the Information Ministry watch the crowd to make sure nobody stands up to dance."

This was sent to me in an e-mail.

The Daily Slimes Strikes Again!

"Is is just me or did anyone notice that one of the biggest headlines in Salisbury's history was not a headline on Saturday in the Daily Slimes? I was happy to see Fernando's picture on the front page but where was the headline!!!! That young man and this town deserved front page headline news on Saturday morning and it wasn't there. It just shows that they just don't have a clue as to what news really is. History was made Friday night and it should have been there!"

Would You Pay $2,000.00 A Month In Taxes Just To Live In Salisbury?

That's about what you'd pay for these two homes going up for Auction later this month. While the first home probably has a value of around $3,000,000.00, Jennifer and I had looked at this home 4 years ago when they first started the construction on it. It's a beautiful home on the River but $3,000,000.00?

Then came the big question, how much are the taxes yearly? The answer, around $20,000.00+ per year. I'm sorry but we have 7.5 acres where we're at in Delmar, DE. with a newer home, around 3,500+ sq. ft. and we pay $1,200.00 a YEAR in taxes.

The days of my paying out huge tax numbers for a home are over. There's absolutely NOTHING in this neighborhood that would attract me to relocate there. Shopping is all the way at the North end of Salisbury and this home is buried on the South end of the City. Heck, I don't even understand how this could be in the City Limits?

Beautiful homes but I wouldn't even consider it at $1,500,000.00. I'm sure someone would though. Mayor, take your taxes and shove it.

THIS ELECTION IS BEING STOLEN!

This article was sent in by an anonymous commenter.

"This SHOULD MAKE YOU ANGRY!

Please help prevent this election from being stolen!
Please warn every American that there is potential massive vote fraud being commited in OHIO!

Due to the Secratary of State's Agenda to help Barack Obama win Ohio, she has created an environment where early voting enables Obama supporters to vote multiple times in multiple districts."

John Barth Revisits The Eastern Shore, Once Again

That postmodern novelist whose early work (The End of the Road), by its unflattering portrayal of the educational institution now known as Salisbury University – fictionalized by him as “Wicomico State Teachers College” – made him persona non grata hereabouts for a long time has maintained his fascination with a notional Eastern Shore for more than 50 years. John Barth’s first published novel (The Floating Opera), named in reference to a “showboat” that visited towns on the Chesapeake Bay when he was growing up in Cambridge, depicts as its central character a bachelor lawyer in Dorchester County. Later work that features the Eastern Shore as a central element or setting includes "The Sot-Weed Factor."

Now in his late seventies, Barth has just published "The Development," a series of short stories about life and lives lived in an upscale retirement community located somewhere on the Shore. The attached review recently appeared in USA Today. And here’s an excerpt from the publisher’s release:

Something has disturbed the comfortably retired denizens of a pristine Florida-style gated community in Chesapeake Bay country. In the dawn of the new millennium and the evening of their lives, these empty nesters discover that their tidy enclave can be as colorful, shocking, and surreal as any of John Barth’s fictional locales. From the high jinks of a toga party to marital infidelities, a baffling suicide pact, and the sudden, apocalyptic destruction of the short-lived development, Barth brings mordant humor and compassion to the lives of characters we all know well. From “one of the most prodigally gifted comic novelists writing in English today” (Newsweek), The Development is John Barth at his most accessible and sympathetic best.

This work seems timely as the residents of the erstwhile development are "come heres" whose affluence derives from their careers conducted elsewhere than the Shore.

BE WARNED: sometimes deemed humor, Barth’s work is a darker variety of that species.

710 Knob

A few days ago I was having some work done at my local garage. A blonde came in and asked for a seven-hundred-ten knob. We all looked at each other and another customer asked, 'What is a seven-hundred-ten knob?' She replied, 'You know, the little piece in the middle of the engine, I have lost it and need a new one.' She replied that she did not know exactly what it was, but this piece had always been there. The mechanic gave her a piece of paper and a pen and asked her to draw what the piece looked like. She drew a circle and in the middle of it wrote 710. He then took her over to another car which had its hood up and asked 'is there a 710 on this car?' She pointed and said, 'Of course, it's right there.' If you're not sure what a 710 is Click Here.

30 Years Later Senator Rich Colburn Is Still Going Strong

Rich Colburn held his 30th Fundraising Event last night in Cambridge and as usual it was a blast. The food was fabulous and each year I have attended I had a great time.

There was one jackass Biker there, part of that "abate" group who thought he was a tough guy placing stickers on the paint of our car but as usual, not man enough to do so face to face. They probably went home saying, we really got that Albero guy. Wait till we get home and tell the rest of the pussies we're members with. The Idiot used his Name Tag with his name and Abate on it. Dee, Dee, Deeee!

No harm done though and it was an extremely long day Saturday with little sleep from the night before and then three events during that day. Andy Harris was the Guest Speaker at this event and he expressed how there's only 30 days left till the election. Thanks Again Mr. & Mrs. Colburn. See you next year!

Husbands Password

Husbands password

A woman was helping her husband set up his computer, and at theappropriate point in the process, told him that he would now need to enter a password. Something he will use to log on.

The husband was in a rather amorous mood and figured he would try for the shock effect to bring this to his wife's attention.

So, when the computer asked him to enter his password, he made it plainly obvious to his wife that he was keying in...

His wife fell off her chair laughing when the computer replied:

PASSWORD DENIED. NOT LONG ENOUGH...

We Must Get Rid of the FED!

If you have ever called your Congressman or Senator to complain about something now is the time, and possibly the most important call or letter you will ever submit.

Who exactly is the Federal Reserve? Is it a Governmental Agency?
Who elected Alan Greenspan or Ben Bernacke?
Did you?

The Federal Reserve is a PRIVATE BANK!
It is not a Government Agency!
Not one voting American elected these two men to their positions, but the Board of Directors of the PRIVATE Federal Reserve!

Former Presidential Candidate, Senator Ron Paul, Republican from Texas, introduced a bill in the house to dissolve the Federal Reserve in June of 2007, yet the House has yet to pick up the bill and bring it to vote. This bill needs to be brought to the floor and voted on, and now!

Who exactly is representing us the American people with this now 840trillion dollar bailout?
We are bailing out private banks!
We are bailing out banks that George Bush and his family have great financial wealth in.
Why are we sitting here and allowing ourselves to believe the utter BS that is being spoon fed to us?
This is the very issue that Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton disagreed on. Centralization of Banking. When you have centralization, and they make bad decisions and bad loans then EVERYONE is effected. If the money is decentralized then when bad decisions are made, regions may be affected but the whole world as we know doesn't cease to exist!

American Free Press reported...

"The Federal Reserve Act, passed by Congress in 1913, laid the foundation for the creation of a privately owned and controlled central bank and gave private bankers the power to control the nation’s money supply.

Nearly 100 years later, the role the central bank has played in the financial scandal has been widely reported in the mainstream. Former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan, once heralded as “the maestro,” has been feeling the heat for supporting the deregulation of financial institutions and flooding markets with cheap dollars.

U.S. News & World Report had a recent commentary titled “From Enron to the Financial Crisis, With Alan Greenspan in Between” excoriating Greenspan, who as the nation’s top banker, repeatedly downplayed the risks associated with derivatives even after the collapse of Enron in 2002.

On September 27, The New York Times also hit Greenspan for his failure to watch over and regulate greedy banks. To its credit, the Times also blasted Congress for dismantling important safeguards, including the Glass-Steagall Act, which kept commercial and investment banks at a safe distance.

“Now we know that an entire ‘shadow banking system’ has grown up,” wrote the Times, “without rules or transparency, but with the ability to topple the financial system itself.”

Even the cable news shows are getting in on the game. NBC’s cable news show interviewed well-known investor Jim Rogers, who made a fortune betting on commodities markets.

“How much money does the Federal Reserve have?” asked Rogers. “I know they can run their printing presses forever, but that is not good for the world. Inflation is not good for the world. A collapsing currency is not good for the world. It means worse recession in the end. . . . I would abolish the Federal Reserve.” "

Now is the time to call your representatives and demand that they bring Ron Paul’s Federal Reserve Board Abolition Act (HR 2755) to the floor for a vote.

The Fed needs to be abolished, and we need to start from ZERO. A Zero based budget is the only way to operate, and this bailout will only prop up an institution who has made decisions to enrich only themselves, and now they want us to bail them out.

Don't believe the BS that by bailing out Wall Street will also bail out Main Street. It is simply not true! Americans will continue to lose their homes, and their jobs and we will be financially enslaved forever.

If you don't believe what I am saying look for yourselves, do the research look up the Federal Reserve. See if you can get a balance sheet...you won't get one, and no one else can either. They are accountable to NO ONE!

This is the time in history when each and everyone of us can make a difference and demand our representatives to represent us. We have the chance right now to save our future. Do the right thing and demand action from our representatives.

The money proposed for this bail out could provide health insurance for every man woman and child in this country! It could pay off the mortgages of every family that is behind in their payments and it could pay for the infrastructure of our entire nation to be restored!

All of the above, or bail out Wall Street, what will it be?

Where's The Daily Times On Important Issues?

Last Friday I presented a view from Andy Harris referencing the Bailout HERE.

We all know the Daily Times reads this Blog day in and day out and certainly that article is worthy of bringing it to every one's attention that pays good money and showing what makes each Candidate tick.

That being said, it once again shows they're not news worthy and certainly not worthy of the price they charge each day to their Customers. They're more interested in full page ads showing their new location and directions on how to get there.

I mean, seriously, don't you think the Bailout is worthy of an article AFTER Congress voted on it and what each Congressional Candidate thinks about it? How can they let a little Blog like SBYnews out do their alleged professionalism when they have some 200 Employees?

I guess if you don't say how Kratovil feels about the Bailout and your Wife is hanging on to keep her job, that's got to be the answer.

Taylor's BBQ Feeds 400

It's not easy putting together good food for 400 people on location but Taylor's BBQ did just that at yesterday's Republican Rally in the Salisbury Park. I want more!

Republicans & Democrats Gather By The Hundreds For Rep. Rally

Yes, even democrats came to this Republican rally near the Bandstand in the Park in Salisbury on Saturday.

Even though there were events going on all over the Eastern Shore, hundreds of people came together once again for some great fellowship and support for the McCain/Palin/Harris Ticket. The food was catered in by Taylor's BBQ and was fantastic!

Although the Daily Times wasn't thhere, perhaps they'll get some pictures in, (like the Main Street Gym Fundraiser) and get the whole story wrong again?
