5 Police Officers Shot In New Jersey Today

JERSEY CITY -- The two suspects killed in today's gunfight in Jersey City were wanted in an armed robbery that took place June 18 and a shooting that caused serious bodily injury, police said.

Police are calling Hassan A. Shakur, 32, and Amanda G. Anderson, 22, "persons of interest" in the incident. The pair were driving a red 2005 Ford Focus with South Carolina license plates, which police said was stolen on April 20 out of Charleston.

Kratovil Widens Money Lead Over Harris

Harvesting the rewards of incumbency, freshman Democratic Congressman Frank Kratovil has expanded his financial edge over potential Republican challenger Andy Harris, according to new campaign finance reports.

Their latest Federal Election Commission filings show Kratovil out-raising Harris by nearly two-to-one. The Democrat is sitting on more than twice as much money in the bank than his Republican rival.

The contest for Maryland's first congressional district, which includes the entire Eastern Shore and portions of Baltimore, Anne Arundel and Harford counties, already ranks among the most closely watched in the nation. In 2008, Kratovil benefited from a strong Democratic trend, but the district clearly favors a Republican and the Stevensville congressman is considered one of the most vulnerable Democrats in the House.

Kratovil padded his money lead in the pre-election year, thanks to the advantages of incumbency. That historic edge appears to be particularly lucrative this year, with sweeping legislative battles in Washington affecting powerful interests across large swaths of the U.S. economy.

In particular, the fights to overhaul the nation's health care and energy sectors helped the Eastern Shore Democrat raise $296,928 in the three-month period ending June 30. That almost precisely matches the amount he collected during the first three months of the year.

Donations from political action committees, representing a wide range of special interests, again accounted for a clear majority of the congressman's campaign take.

Kratovil received more money from PACS--$162,564--than Harris received from all sources combined.

Harris, a Baltimore County state senator, collected $118,299 over the same period, between April 1 and June 30. Most of that--about $91,600--came from individuals, while just over $26,600 was from PACs.

DEM HEALTH RX A POI$ON PILL IN NY

TERRIFYING 57% TAX LOOMS FOR BIGGEST EARNERS

By CHARLES HURT IN DC and DAVID SEIFMAN AND JENNIFER FERMINO IN NY, Post

Congressional plans to fund a massive health-care overhaul could have a job-killing effect on New York, creating a tax rate of nearly 60 percent for the state's top earners and possibly pressuring small-business owners to shed workers.

New York's top income bracket could reach as high as 57 percent -- rates not seen in three decades -- to pay for the massive health coverage proposed by House Democrats this week.

OPINION: SLEDGEHAMMER HIT TO CRUMBLING EMPIRE STATE

EDITORIAL: HERE COMES OBAMACARE

OPINION: THESE PLANS WILL REDUCE YOUR CHOICE

The top rate in New York City, home to many of the state's wealthiest people, would be 58.68 percent, the Washington-based Tax Foundation said in a report yesterday.

That means New York's top earners, small-business owners and most dynamic entrepreneurs will be facing new fees and penalties.

Obama Running TV Ads Aimed At Democratic Senators On His Bloated Healthcare Plan

By Peter Roff, Thomas Jefferson Street blog

What would a government-led healthcare system that includes a public option look like? Thanks to a group of Democrats in the U.S. House, who introduced a version of their healthcare plan Tuesday, we know. It looks like a 14-year-old boy's bedroom or, to put it another way, it's a mess.

At more than 1,000 pages, the Democrats' plan is quite long, too long to believe that most members will read before voting on it. More likely they will depend on the analysis of what the bill does provided by staff and by stakeholders in the support of the effort to push the U.S. healthcare system—which represents more than 17 percent of GDP—down the slippery slope toward nationalization. It would come at an estimated cost of at least $1 trillion dollars—an amount roughly equal to the current budget deficit, which for the first time has passed that crucial benchmark.

And they are "hell bent for Texas" to get it done.

Budget Umpire: Health Care Bills Would Raise Costs

By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR,
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON – Democrats' health care bills won't meet President Barack Obama's goal of slowing the ruinous rise of medical costs, Congress' budget umpire warned on Thursday, giving weight to critics who say the legislation could break the bank.

The sobering assessment from Congressional Budget Office Director Douglas Elmendorf came as House Democrats pushed to pass a partisan bill through committees, while in the Senate a small group of lawmakers continued to seek a deal that could win support from both political parties.

With the pressure mounting on all sides, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., dismissed as "a waste of money" a television ad campaign by Obama's political organization aiming to nudge moderate Democrats off the fence. He called it "Democrats running ads against Democrats."

From the beginning of the health care debate, Obama has insisted that any overhaul must "bend the curve" of rapidly rising costs that threaten to swamp the budgets of government, businesses and families.

Asked by Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad, D-N.D., if the evolving legislation would bend the cost curve, the budget director responded that "the curve is being raised."

Daily Times Comments Soar To "31" Today

I had a little spare time today to go over to the Daily Times Website and count up the amount of comments on their Site for today's articles.

The total so far is 31 comments, 18 of which came from their Grapevine comments. Here's the deal though. I sometimes engage in comments but while people like JT have three, (or more) names, they get together every time I put up a comment and work the system by clicking the abuse button and they get my comment, (as well as others) booted off.

Well, two can play that game. That's why I contacted Greg Bassett and informed him what's going on and he agreed, something needs to be done about that. The reason something needs to be done is the absolute fact that when Joe Albero gets on there, comments go through the roof. Mind you, it's a hand full of people with several different accounts bashing me but that's cool, I can handle that.

The problem is, once everyone comes to learn that people like JT, JR, MD, BT, LC and the likes start controlling ALL of the conversations on the Daily Times, the Daily Times will in fact start losing more and more business and they agree.

The Daily Times is in the business of telling a story and hopefully people hold a healthy discussion that is ON TOPIC. What they're seeing is people personally attacking someone and always completely off the topic at hand. On Salisbury News, we too enjoy healthy debate on issues but the difference is, we can concentrate on moderation and rejecting any comment that goes off topic and or personal attacks.

The bottom line is, the Daily Times has their work cut out for them. They now have to figure out a way to allow my comments, (as well as others) to stay up there without someone beating their system. If they want to achieve a broader Internet audience they're just going to have to figure it out. We discussed one way of how to handle it and they're considering it. In due time we'll see what happens. However, for a company that claims to still have a larger audience than Salisbury News, 31 comments for them today, 163 comments so far today for Salisbury News and growing almost every single minute. You be the judge.

Taliban Threaten To Kill Captured US Soldier

KABUL – Local Taliban commanders threatened Thursday to kill a captured American soldier unless the U.S. military stops operations in two districts of southeastern Afghanistan.

Also Thursday, Canadian authorities announced that a Canadian soldier was killed southwest of Kandahar, bringing to 47 the number of international troops killed in Afghanistan this month. That makes July the deadliest month of the war for foreign troops — with nearly half the month to go.

The Taliban claimed last week to be holding the American soldier, whom the U.S. military earlier described as possibly being in enemy hands.

Abdullah Jalali, a spokesman for Taliban commander Mawlavi Sangin, told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Thursday that the soldier was healthy.

He said the soldier would be killed unless the U.S. stops airstrikes in Ghazni province's Giro district and Paktika province's Khoshamand district. Jalali did not explain why the Taliban chose those areas, noting only that Giro has been heavily bombed.

NYC Teen Leaves Kitten In Oven To Die

NEW YORK (July 16) - A New York City teenager has admitted that she failed to let a kitten out of an oven after a friend put the animal inside and left it to roast to death.

Skip over this content After pleading guilty to charges of animal cruelty and attempted burglary on Wednesday, 17-year-old Cheyenne Cherry confronted a row of animal activists outside the courtroom. Cherry stuck out her tongue and told the activists that the kitten named Tiger Lily was "dead."

Authorities say Cherry and a 14-year-old friend ransacked a Bronx apartment before putting the cat in the oven, where it cried and scratched before dying.

The 14-year-old was charged with aggravated animal cruelty and burglary in the May 6 incident.

Cherry will serve a year in jail under a plea bargain.

Pentagon Orders Soldier Fired For Challenging President

Army warrior terminated from job after questioning Obama eligibility

By Chelsea Schilling and Joe Kovacs© 2009 WorldNetDaily

Dr. Orly Taitz

The Department of Defense has allegedly compelled a private employer to fire a U.S. Army Reserve major from his civilian job after he had his military deployment orders revoked for arguing he should not be required to serve under a president who has not proven his eligibility for office.

According to the CEO of Simtech Inc., a private company contracted by the Defense Security Services, an agency of the Department of Defense, the federal government has compelled the termination of Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook.

Cook's attorney, Orly Taitz, wrote in her blog that Simtech CEO Larry Grice said he would try to find another position within the company for Cook, but nothing is currently available.
The Department of Defense does contracting in the general field of information technology/systems integration, at which Cook, a senior systems engineer and architect, was employed until taking a military leave of absence on July 10 in preparation for his deployment to Afghanistan.

"Grice told plaintiff, in essence, that the situation had become 'nutty and crazy,' and that plaintiff would no longer be able to work at his old position," Taitz wrote.
Grice made clear that it was Defense Security Services that had compelled Simtech to fire Cook, Taitz wrote.

According to the report, Grice told Cook "there was some gossip that 'people were disappointed in' the plaintiff because they thought he was manipulating his deployment orders to create a platform for political purposes."

The Simtech CEO then discussed Cook's expectation of final paychecks, without any severance pay, and wished the soldier well.

Messages left with Grice's office had not been returned at the time of this report.

War And Taxes

Two strikes against the new administration
by Victor Davis Hanson
NRO’s The Corner

Look Back in Anger at Iraq

It is striking how Obama references past mistakes on Afghanistan and emphasizes the now-tired "reset"-button themes — striking because of what is left unsaid.

One, there seems little awareness that Putin's increasing authoritarianism from 2002 onward (empowered by the increase in oil prices, and the harassment of pro-democracy advocates at home and abroad), not just George Bush's strut and provocations, were mostly the reasons why a confident Russia now decides to be for whatever the U.S. is against.

By framing the relationship with the subtext of "let's improve what Bush ruined," we present an image of contriteness, while essentially affirming past Russian behavior as understandable. No need to add that no Russian ever shows remorse about anything, much less the souring of Russian-American relations, much, much less its own role in that estrangement.

When Obama says that things got worse in Afghanistan and that he now is trying to renew attention there and right things, fair enough. He deserves our support for his escalation. But at the same time, he is absolutely silent about the radical shift in Iraq, the once-"bad" war that is now far more encouraging than is its "good" counterpart in Afghanistan.

But someone, apparently to be forever unmentioned, did something right for Obama to inherit relative calm in Iraq, a democratic government that still survives and which is exposing the old shibboleth "we only empowered Iran by going into Iraq" to be a short-term truism at best; when, in fact, a multiparty, Shiite-majority democracy in Iraq that replaced Saddam is probably proving far more destablizing to nearby 8th-century clerics in Iran than are their own IEDs and bought terrorists in Iraq.

The theocracy has real problems when its own clerics begin questioning the recent fraudulent election and calling for more transparency, inasmuch as they see across their border a workable system with popular support in a way unknown for the last 30 years in their own country.

The Tipping Point on Taxes?

Reports that Representative Rangel (of recent tax-liability fame) and others are suggesting a new health-care surcharge on "top" incomes need to be put into context. The president has already assured everyone that the income tax rates will go up to about 40% on such people; but unlike the Clinton-era rates, this will also be accompanied by a lifting of the ceiling on exposure to FICA payroll taxes.

And if we were to factor in recent state income tax rate hikes that were similarly weighted, it is not hard in a state like California to see a self-employed small business person paying almost 70% of income in state, federal, payroll, and new surcharge taxes.

People are not dense, and the thought of such added exposure surely must already be making many small-business owners think carefully about investing in new equipment, hiring more employees, or expanding service, since the government, not they, now knows far better how to spend an extra 10–20% of their income.

So we can predict two reactions: One, businesses will constrict in anticipation of owing more in taxes; two, they will explore new methods (not all of them productive or healthy) of hiding and shielding income.

We are living in a surreal age of $2 trillion annual deficits, in which we just casually talk about "more stimulus", "reforming health care", "fixing education", "cap-and-trade", while fighting two wars abroad — all the while "not raising taxes on 95% of Americans" — all predicated on the idea that "they" will always be willing and able to create new wealth and now hand over two-thirds and more of it to an ever-expanding government.

The only mystery will be how long will the base of Obama's support stay loyal among high-paid stockbrokers, CEOs, lawyers, financiers, academics, and journalists, who have enough money to get hit hard by new taxes, but not quite enough money not to care.

Tawes Crab & Clam Bake "Politicin" Part I

Considering this is not an election year, I couldn't believe my own eyes seeing so many politicians in one place. Clearly many are worried about their seat, no matter where it is.

I had the distinct pleasure of spending some quality time with Mrs. Kratovil and their children, this is one fine Family. Frank is as fortunate as I am to have a very loving and supportive Wife and the children, that's a no brainer, they're adorable!
Frank couldn't be at the event because he was in Washington voting yesterday.

There were several new faces on the scene yesterday, many of which were announcing their candidacy for one position or another. I'll wait till later to fill everyone in on who's who but for now we'll see how long they last. We also want to get to know some of these people a little better before we expose their intent/platform.

I arrived early because I wanted to find parking, in which I did. It was pretty funny to see people parking on public streets and property owners demanding $10.00 per vehicle, especially outside section 8 housing!

One guy got out of his car and a woman came up to him and said, that will be $10.00. He replied, this is a public street. She said, my Mother lives in that townhouse over there, (the townhouse faced an interior parking lot) and then she pointed towards the back of their townhouse, (which backed to a public street) and she demanded the $10.00.

When I went in there was absolutely no line, unlike previous years. In years past the line seemed to be completely around the block to get in. They did say the event was smalled by about 1,500 people or so but better than they expected in this economy.

About mid way into the event you'd think it was just as busy as years past. The lines were forever long but moved pretty quickly. The biggest lines, (believe it or not) was the bathrooms.

I also had the pleasure of finally, (after many years) meeting Cathy Bassett, Greg Bassett's Wife. She is a very nice woman, (you don't deserve her Greg, just kidding) and it was truly a pleasure meeting her finally.

The AFP was in full force. Everyone was in a great mood and quite frankly I had a blast. More to come.........

Tawes Crab & Clam Bake "Politicin" Part II

The Tawes Crab & Clam Bake, "The People"

My Democratic Friends Were Right

As much as it pains me to say this, I have to admit it - my Democrat friends were right.

They told me if I voted for McCain, the nation's hope would deteriorate, and sure enough there has been a 20 point drop in the Consumer Confidence Index since the election, reaching a lower point than any time during the Bush administration.

They told me if I voted for McCain, the US would become more deeply embroiled in the Middle East, and now, tens of thousands of additional troops are scheduled to be deployed into Afghanistan .

My Democrat Party friends told me if I voted for McCain, that the economy would get worse and sure enough unemployment is at 9.4% and the new stimulus packages implemented recently have sent the stock market lower than at any time since theIslamic Terrorists attacks of 9-11.

They told me if I voted for McCain, we would see more "crooks" in high ranking positions in Federal government and sure enough, several recent cabinet nominees and Senate appointments revealed resumes of scandal, bribery and tax fraud.

They told me if I voted for McCain, we would see more "Pork at the trough" in Federal government and sure enough, 17,500 "Pork Bills" showed up in Congress since January 2009.

I was also told by my Democrat friends that if I voted for McCain, we would seemore deficit spending in Washington D..C. , and sure enough, Obama has spent more in just 30 days than all other Presidents together - in the entire history of the good ole USA!!

Well I voted for McCain in November and my Democrat friends were right... all of their predictions have come true!

Questions Not Asked Of Obama And Congress

1. Will the 12 million illegal aliens, that comprise 25% of the
uninsured, be covered under any Health Care Plans put forth?

2. Will Congress drop their current plan for this "Government Health Care Option"?
Let Congress lead by example.

Demand your senators and congressmen are covered by the same plan as constituents.

Senator Mikulski (202) 224-4654
Senator Cardin (202) 224-4524
Congressman Kratovil (202) 225-5311

Our representatives are starting to feel the heat. The phones are busy and staffers are defensive in justifying positions.

A Letter To The Editor About Food Lion

I wanted to throw something out to the community to see if anyone else is experiencing the same problems I have been experiencing with Food Lion meat. I would have to say I have thrown away Food Lion brand chicken 5 times in the last several months. I never save receipts from grocery stores, and usually only buy it when it is on sale. I figure it's too much hassle to go back into town with 3 little ones to return a $5.00 pack of chicken, so I just throw it away.

Anyway...a couple weeks ago I purchased baby back ribs and another pack of chicken. When I went to open them...peeeeuuuuuu! It stunk! I know when meat is bad. This was too much money to flush down the toilet so I went back. The didn't seem to want to accept that their meat was bad. The kept asking, "Are you sure you didn't' leave it out?" "Is your refrigerator not working properly?" They did let me pick out another pack of ribs and another pack of chicken. I made the ribs and they were delicious, but when I went to open the chicken....BAD AGAIN!

It has only been their brand that I have had a problem with that I recall. They told me their brand is Perdue. I don't know...but that's what they said. They said they have not had any other problems with people having bad meat either. It's hard for me to believe that I am the only one.

I even sent my son in the store to send back bad chicken wings the week before and one of the managers smelled it and said it was fine! OMG it would have made you sick. I would like to have seen him cook it up and eat them.

So..just wanted to know if anyone else has had any problems. I love Food Lion and will continue to shop there, but I won't be buying "their" chicken.

THIS JUST IN FROM PERDUE: "Perdue does not produce Food Lion’s private label fresh chicken products."

Cap And Trade, Some Of The "Hidden Items"

If You Don't Hate the Cap and Trade Bill, Let Me Show You it's Section 304.

I bet you thought that if you bought a house, you actually own it and can, with reasonable exceptions, do with it what you want. You probably think that if you want to live in a log cabin, with wood stoves that belch smoke into the air for heat, and an old washer and dryer that don't have those little EnergyStar stickers on them you can because it's your life and your property. You paid for it with money you earned with the sweat of your brow and what the heck is America anyhow if a body can't live in the home they want furnished with the appliances they want?

What ever happened to the saying "A Man's home is his Castle".

Ah, silly you. You didn't reckon on the current Government's desire to control every miniscule aspect of your life.

Let me introduce you to just a little section of the Waxman-Markey Cap-and-Trade bill called the "Building Energy Performance Labeling Program". It's section 304 of the bill and it says, basically, that your house belongs to the state. The Federal Government really wants a country full of energy-efficient homes, so much so that the bill mandates that new homes be 30 percent more energy efficient than the current building code calls for on the very day the law is signed. That efficiency goes up to 50 percent by 2014 and only goes higher from there, all the way to 2030. That, by the way, is not merely a target but a requirement of the law. New homes must reach those efficiency targets no matter what.

But what does that have to do with current homeowners like you? Well, I'm glad you asked. You're certainly not off the hook, no way, no how. Here's what the Government has planned for you. The program requires that states label their buildings so that we can all know how efficient every building (that includes residential and non-residential buildings) is and it requires that the information be made public.

To that end, the bill suggests a number of circumstances under which the states could inspect a building, including:

(A) preparation, and public disclosure of the label through filing with tax and title records

(i) a building audit conducted with support from Federal or State funds;

(ii) a building energy-efficiency retrofit conducted in response to such an audit;

(iii) a final inspection of major renovations or additions made to a building in accordance with a building permit issued by a local government entity;

(iv) a sale that is recorded for title and tax purposes consistent with paragraph (8);

(v) a new lien recorded on the property for more than a set percentage of the assessed value of the property, if that lien reflects public financial assistance for energy-related improvements to that building;

(vi) a change in ownership or operation of the building for purposes of utility billing;

(B) other appropriate means.

Pay close attention to (iii), (iv), and (vi) because those hit you right where you live. What that's saying is the state will be empowered to inspect your home if they want to. So, if you 1) renovate your house in any way that requires a building permit, 2) sell your house, or 3) change the name of the person responsible for any utility bill the provisions of this bill kick in..

By now, if you haven't swallowed your tongue and are in need of medical attention, you're probably wondering if there's a penalty for not being in compliance with the new efficiency ratings. The answer is no, and yes. Here's where the bill gets really sneaky. So far as I can tell, there is no direct penalty if your house does not meet the bill's target. However, it does require that the number of buildings inspected by the state meet certain percentage targets and if they do not, the state loses out on a significant portion of the money it could get from Washington. In other words, the bill demands certain things from the states, but ties funding for those demands to compliance with the demands of the Federal Government. So, if the State wants funds from the Government, it must do what the Government wants or no money. So much for States and your rights..

Did I say the bill gets sneaky? I was wrong. The bill strong-arms the states like a couple mob heavies leaning on a witness in a Rico trial. In turn, the states are going to put the screws to you, so it gets the billions of dollars Washington is dangling in front of them. So while the Federal government won't directly punish you, it will provide the states with lots and lots of rectangular, green reasons to do so. It actually buys the States compliance with Federal (yours and mine) Tax Dollars.

And it gets worse. The Federal government has graciously offered to help homeowners with the retrofits the states will force them to do through a program called the Retrofit for Energy and Environmental Purposes (REEP). REEP which sets aside a pool of money in each state for property owners who have to turn their polar bear-killing buildings into lean, mean, green machines. But, and I'm sure you've guessed this already, there's a catch. Before I get to that, here's the magic formula (and don't read ahead and spoil the surprise!):

(i) AWARDS- For residential buildings--

(I) support for a free or low-cost detailed building energy audit that prescribes, as part of a energy-reducing measures sufficient to achieve at least a 20 percent reduction in energy use, by providing an incentive equal to the documented cost of such audit, but not more than $200, in addition to any earned by achieving a 20 percent or greater efficiency improvement;

(II) a total of $1,000 for a combination of measures, prescribed in an audit conducted under subclause (I), designed to reduce energy consumption by more than 10 percent, and $2,000 for a combination of measures prescribed in such an audit, designed to reduce energy consumption by more than 20 percent;

(III) $3,000 for demonstrated savings of 20 percent, pursuant to a performance-based building retrofit program; and

(IV) $1,000 for each additional 5 percentage points of energy savings achieved beyond savings for which funding is provided under subclause (II) or (III).

Boy, that certainly makes it clear.

If you want to hit that 50 percent savings mark that all new homes have to hit, then you can get as much as $12,200, including inspection, as you scoop all those awards. That's a pretty good chunk of change that should cover most, if not all of the costs of a retrofit on any moderately-sized older house, right? Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy.

Except for that catch and boy is it a doozy.

(ii) MAXIMUM PERCENTAGE- Awards under clause (i) shall not exceed 50 percent of retrofit costs for each building. For buildings with multiple residential units, awards under clause (i) shall not be greater than 50 percent of the total cost of retrofitting the building, prorated among individual residential units on the basis of relative costs of the retrofit.

Did you get that? You'll get no more than half of the cost of the retrofit, no matter what. To get the full effect of that part of the bill, I suggest you visit this web page and click the big yellow button right after you finish reading it.

I think Mark Steyn sums it up rather nicely:

I confess I'm finding it harder and harder to see why you fellows bothered holding a revolution. Under this bill, it will be illegal for me to sell my property to a willing buyer without first bringing it into line with some twerp bureaucrat's arbitrary and ever shifting "environmental" regulations originally designed for California, and which have helped turn the Golden State into the foldin' state, but which are nevertheless now to be applied from Maine to Alaska. And no matter what you spend a couple of years down the road the standards will be "revised" so that you'll be out of compliance all over again.

And the very worst thing about all this is that it is only one little bit of what the Government in Washington wants to do to you. Are you getting a little bit upset yet? If not, here are 49 more things they want to do on you in the name of climate change. I'm sure you can find something in there that might give you a reason to contact your Senator today.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention that I found the nifty linkable form of the bill thanks to this post by Pat who runs the quite good blog And So It Goes in Shreveport. As some of you know, it's very bad mojo not to like to a blogger who provides nifty and/or useful information. Thank you also to those of you who are sending this link around on Twitter. You make a blogger's heart grow three sizes too large this morning!

If this is your first visit to AIP, feel free to leave a comment to say hello (or groan audibly about Henry Waxman's folly of a bill). While you're here, why not take a couple extra minutes to read some of the other good blog posts. The Morning Conservative Reading List is a great place to start (and a reason to visit every day!). From there you can read about Czar Mania, some strange economic polling, and a David Axelrod fact-check beatdown, just for starters.

UPDATE 2: Melissa Clouthier, AIP columnist and blogger extraordinaire, asks an interesting question:

Consider this for a moment. Right now, at this writing, there is a glut of new home supply. Will those homes have to be retrofitted to meet the government's 30% more fuel efficient standards? And how does one magically do this? Already, homes are being built with air-tight windows, special insulation, more efficient air conditioners, etc. What would make it more energy efficient?

I'll give you a hint: think appliances. Trust me, Section 304 is but a miniscule fraction of the mandates the Government want to foist upon you.

My advice to you: "Join a Tea Party and take action."
