BREAKING NEWS

The Salisbury Police Department was just involved in a high speed chase down Rt. 13 where a 4 door sedan vehicle was running from the Police. The vehicle at times was actually traveling down Rt 13 on the opposite side of the highway. The vehicle hit the curb near Main Street and stopped at that location. The Police have secured the driver. This happened just seconds ago. More to come.....

A Comment Worthy Of A Post

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Is Bigger Better?":

"Joe, you are so clueless about the Brotherhood of the Fire Service. First of all, it may be a cliche, but it's the truth when I say that to understand the brotherhood of the career fire service, you have to be a career firefighter. I have a story for you involving my own wife, which coincidentally also involves the firefighters of FDNY Rescue Company 3, in The Bronx..They are located on 176th street between Park and Washington Avenues. About 4 years ago, my wife was traveling to Ct. to attend the funeral of a friend who had passed suddenly. Just before the 3rd Avenue exit on the Cross Bronx, her alternator light came on. Luckily she made it to the exit and had enough to get to the end of the ramp when the car quit. I am sure you know, that is not a great place to break down, especially for a white woman in her 20's. In the middle of making phone calls, not knowing what to do (I was away on travel at the time and unavailable) and when she was just about to start crying, along come the on-duty members of Rescue 3. They saw the IAFF decal and the license plate, and her 4-ways on.....They found out what was going on, got her back to their firehouse, got an alternator for her car from a parts shop, installed it themselves, fed her, and sent her on her way. Thats my own experience on the receipt end.

I have also heard many many times over, of firefighters from all over the United States, bringing their children to Baltimore or Philadelphia for medical care at Hopkins or CHOP.....And the families being taken in by host firefighter's families. Complete strangers, bounded by the Maltese Cross, sworn to protect complete strangers, even ones as ignorant as yourself. Granted, the members of the SFD have a history of not making the wisest choices in the world, but you don't have to group the rest of us in with them.

There is a difference between our brotherhood, and your brotherhood. I don't pretend to know anything about yours, return the favor and don't pretend to know about ours.

(When was the last time you saw the funeral of a dead online newspaper editor get 10,000 people at his funeral?) "

My Reply:

Need I say more about my earlier Post. Of course you heard stories about other Fire departments fulfilling a Brotherhood, especially in New York. It's all about the Salisbury Fire Department, LOOK AT MEEEEEE. I am happy to hear your Wife was conforted and secured by such fine men and women.

I have many Family Members who are and have been a part of the NYFD and I would never expect any less from any one of them. I also noticed how you only mention career firefighters and mention nothing about volunteers. Again, this clearly proves you know absolutely nothing about Brotherhood.

You said, "Granted, the members of the SFD have a history of not making the wisest choices in the world, but you don't have to group the rest of us in with them." Well, you're right about that one. It's a shame your old Fire Chief would hire criminals. If you know me at all, I did not make my earlier statement in my Post pointing a finger at the entire SFD. I know many good men and women who serve for the right reasons but I also know many who purposely make sure sprinkler systems are not forced down the Council's throats because they save lives and property.

All too many of you want to fight fires, you know, reactive instead of proactive. Look at the building in Ocean City the other day. Saved by the sprinkler system. Nevertheless, thanks for your comment. I'm sure there will be plenty of people who will comment away at it.

‘Self-Insured’ Businesses Resist New Health Rules

Lawmakers worry workers would be vulnerable to higher costs, denials

WASHINGTON
- Despite promises by President Barack Obama, more than 70 million Americans who have health insurance through their jobs could be open to higher costs or denials of some coverage under a leading overhaul plan making its way through Congress.

That's because large employers that directly assume the cost and risk of health coverage for their workers — including Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., Caterpillar Inc. and Xerox — wouldn't be subject to the same rules and restrictions that would be imposed on health insurers in the measure approved this month by the Senate Finance Committee.

Large companies that offer their workers such coverage are lobbying hard to keep the status quo and be shielded from costly new regulations and requirements in the final health measure currently being negotiated behind closed doors by Obama's top aides and leading Democrats.

Clay County, Fla., Sheriff Rick Beseler first said the body had not been identified but the parents of Somer Thompson, who has been missing since Monday, have been notified. NBC affiliate WTLV reported that the body was female.

The body was found by Clay County detectives who followed garbage trucks from the girl's neighborhood to Folkston, Ga., just north of the Florida border in Charlton County, Ga.

Is Bigger Better?

In a recent trip back to the Bronx in NYC I had quite a bit of time to think back and reminisce about the good old days.

My Cousin Duffy informed me that all of the small specialty shops in Manhattan are closing their doors and business Downtown is just horrible. This coming from a guy who has been a Bartender for more than 30 years and has spent his entire life in NYC.

Growing up in the Bronx, moving to New Jersey and then going back to the City each and every weekend until I was 9 years old, only to return three years later and visiting the City every single opportunity we could, this provided memories, wisdom and experiences most have never experienced. Not here anyway.

We played stick ball in the streets. We read newspapers with information daily most of you would cringe at. We rode trains with people of all walks of life. If we sat at a McDonald's or any other cafe, five and dime, you sat with strangers at the same table and you always cleaned up after yourselves.

I personally grew up with a Family who's past involved the Mafia. Lots of funerals back in the day, very few from natural causes. I can recall being a child in New Jersey and learning to read and write with my Uncle Donald who had been beaten so badly he had to start all over again.

I can remember being a kid on Fordham Road & Valentine Avenue where the Fordham Baldies hung out. We could walk right up to them and say hello and we had no fear whatsoever. They knew not to mess with the Italian kids in the neighborhood. The Soprano's show on HBO was very mild, let me assure you of that.

All that being said, what's so different about growing up in a big city versus the Eastern Shore. Well, we'll start with, we lived in apartments so small, you ate breakfast in the morning and you were expected to only return for lunch and you better make damn sure you were home on time for dinner. You didn't hang out in your room playing DS, Nintendo or watch TV. You hooked up with everyone in the neighborhood and played hide and seek, stick ball, marco/polo, you name it.

OMG, the smell from one floor to the other as you walked up four flights of stairs, UNBELIEVABLE! The women stayed home and spent half of their day preparing dinner. In NYC you walked to the grocery store and you only purchased what you needed and or could carry home and fight the exhausting trip up four flights of stairs with whatever you had in your hands. Imagine, (back in the day) the monstrous carriages being pulled up four flights with a baby in it, one step at a time. Oh, you got your exercise, believe me when I tell you.

Then there was the restaurants and bars on every corner. In between was a deli, a bakery, a pawn shop, you name it. Dysfunctional families were everywhere. You had Jews, Catholics, Polish, Italian, Irish, Hispanic, Black, White, Chinese, you name it, we ALL got along.

I personally believe the experience of growing up in such a diverse surrounding, knowing we could all get along, prepared me for my adult life. Today when someone says something negative about Obama, we're a racist. Let me tell you something people, until you grow up like I did, you have no clue what a racist is. Today's example of racism is whenever you disagree. Racism back in my day was the KKK. It was killing black people, forcing man to the back of the bus. Forcing people to drink out of a different water fountain. Refusing to allow people into any and all schools. Hosing people down with fire hydrant hoses at full pressure to keep them away. If you pulled any of this crap on any one of my friends growing up, you'd get your A$$ kicked by not one of us but by ten of us.

Brotherhood was another thing we grew up with. I did grow up in an Italian Mafia Family but Brotherhood was not owned by just the Italians. It was owned by everyone. Today when I hear Police Officers and Firefighters using the term Brotherhood, in most cases I immediately think, they have absolutely no clue. Yeah, it sounds good in Hollywood and even in most suburbs but try saying such a thing in New York and ever try turning on one of your own. They didn't need cops back in the day to take care of business like that and if you screwed up and you were lucky enough to be alive after the got to you, believe me, you never did it again. Not here.

As times changed, many of us relocated out of the City to raise families where it was less expensive. Granted, you had a drive and a half to get to work but neighborhoods started changing fast and ultimately started to become territories. This wasn't the case in Jersey and upstate New York. We grew up in neighborhoods that had no street lights and many of them still today don't.

Were we run over by cars, no. Were we jumped and mugged, absolutely not. Did they close entire blocks down several times per summer for a local block party without any complaints, absolutely. Did we have snowball fights in the winter and cream the neighbors without any fights, absolutely. You knew each and every one of the people in the entire community, not just your immediate neighbors. There were no "clicks" and everyone was considered equal. When you went trick or treating, every single home had their lights on. We grew up with UNICEF and we had no problem at all getting a penny for our treat, then donate every penny for a great cause.

On Christmas Day you'd keep peaking out the window to see who would be the first one outside with their new toy, not toys. We could say, Mom, Guido and Luigi are outside playing, can we go out too. You'd always hear, go ask your Father. Why, because that was one day out of the year your Father would be home and not at work.

How could we ever forget Sunday mornings. Sunday would mean you had to put on a suit and tie, yes, even at 5 years old and head off to Church. Dad was usually up way ahead of everyone else to make his Sunday morning trip to the Bakery to bring home fresh bagels, sesame buns and everything was still warm. We'd dunk those rolls into our sunny side eggs, just like Dad always did.

As times continued to change, man, did we Americans ever screw up. The Albero Family didn't own a color TV until 1979. I can remember seeing All In The Family in color, M*A*S*H*, Carol Brunette and yes, even the Jackson's, Donnie & Marie, Happy Days and so many other cool shows. However, one thing that was different in our household was the fact that Mom made sure every single day that we were outside playing. We'd use old socks for gloves in the winter to make snowballs and it was very rare we had a complete pair of socks with the same colored stripes. Man, remember those days!

When I move forward to today, the story starts getting pretty sad all of a sudden. Back in the day, we looked up to our President. We trusted that man more so than anyone in the world. We didn't have to challenge his actions, we simply went along with it. We bought War Bonds, no questions asked. Then the 70's came along, Nixon was just a screwball and things quickly went downhill. The Press wasn't telling Americans the truth and lawsuits started changing this entire Country.

You know what gets me the most though. Today I look at the City of Salisbury, (as an example) and I see a Police Chief who's job is gravy. Just look at the job it takes for a Police Chief in the Bronx these days, then look at Salisbury. Our crime is so through the roof, even the Mayor sits idol, scratches his head and says, I wonder why things are so bad. We have a Mayor so afraid of the Police Chief suing the City, he just won't fire him because he sucks at what he does. Heck, if this community was anything like the communities I grew up in back in the day, Webster would have resigned long ago. He would have resigned just as soon as crime increased and the Mayor refused to provide the money to support public safety.

Today, while we live in a City that could require sprinkler heads in ALL commercial and residential properties but refuses to do so in order to increase the size of their Fire department and not give a crap about saving lives WITHOUT them, it's simply a shame. I can't tell you just how many millions of people live in New York City, setting the bar for what to do and what not to do, yet Salisbury sits idol, depending on a hand full of Idiots running the show who have absolutely no history of living in a place like NYC.

While a hand full of people have challenged me many different times on how I think I'm so special that I could be a Mayor, a Police Chief and or a Fire Chief, at 47 years old I personally believe I could do so right here and now and do a much better job at the actual title than what these clowns do in positions that are more photo opportunities than actually doing their job.

Bigger is better, even though the buildings are built with old seasoned wood, prime material for horrible fires. Although we all moved here to the Eastern Shore to get away from the big city life, look what we've got. Murders, bank robberies, violent crime, you name it, we've got it. You're safer in the Bronx than you are right here in Salisbury.

Today we get in our cars and load the trunk up with groceries, more than we'll ever actually use. We've forgotten what it's like to walk the 1/2 to a mile to the grocery store and then walk back loaded with cans of food, milk and bare necessities. Kids don't play outside because there's gunshots, drive by shootings or others trying to yank someone into their car even as young adults.

Think about it like this. How many of you would ever consider using the Shore Bus Transit to get to and from work today? Don't call me a racist when I speak the truth but think about this. How many white people would use that transit system, yet millions use it every single day in NYC.

We've become a throw away society. We have groceries in our cabinets that are past the shelf life date. Man, I can remember being a kid and Mom would have restaurant night. She's write down a new menu once a week, most of which was leftovers. However, the pancake mix might be getting old and if you wanted pancakes for dinner, you got it. It was whatever we could do to clean out the cabinets and eat what was bought. Think about it. All of you know I'm right.

However, today we have very few sidewalks to actually walk to a grocery store, unless you're near the University. There was a better day, a better way of life, we've simply forgotten where we came from. It's a beautiful thing when communities come together but isn't it a shame that when we do, it's usually more so about a child with cancer than it is a family who's home just burned down and they had no insurance. 2009 was the year I wanted to give back and I have done so to my very best ability and I will continue to do so. However, I can't do it alone. My hope is that this information brings all of you back to a time when everyone volunteered. Are you listening Fire department! Go back to when you were hurt on the job, that was a part of life, the profession you chose. It's not up to the taxpayers to pay you off or insurance companies. When you're raised in the right environment, your Family will take care of you.

Crime is out of control and we have a Police Chief who has proven day after day the he cannot provide the service we as taxpayers deserve. We cannot walk the streets at night. We cannot play stick ball in the street. We cannot walk to a grocery store and hell, we can't even go to school without someone trying to abduct us. We are being driven into the dungeons of our own homes and closing the blinds, not able to see who's playing outside, even on Christmas Day.

It's time we fight back and take our City back. It's time we make some demands on this Mayor and other politicians to make things right or get the hell out of office. It's time to shame these people and respect others like Sheriff Mike Lewis who not only lives in the community he represents, if he screwed up he'd have everyone looking at him for the rest of his life, kind of like Ray Lewis will experience. It won't happen because Mike is a good, honest, caring man.

I want to raise my Grandson in a better place. I/We pay enough taxes that now our County Executive and citizens want to complain about Crossing Guards. Move to the Bronx you Idiots and you'll see all kids crossing at Cross Walks with the light. As my Grandmothers used to say, "It will only happen once." She'd then motion to a kid in a wheel chair and say, see what happens when you don't cross with the light at a Cross Walk. Yeah, you got the picture loud and clear then. Today we're dealing with, OMG, how will my children cross the street. How can Rick Pollitt take this away! I'll answer that question for each one of you very easily and quickly. They'll get across that street, yes, even at 5 years old with ONE FOOT IN FRONT OF THE OTHER. They'll survive.

It's time to let our limited staff of Police do their job and not hold your kids hands. If you have a problem with it, walk your own damn kids to school. If you can't, STOP having them as you're clearly not qualified.

While bigger shouldn't be better, it clearly shows just how screwed up Salisbury is when you can feel safer in the Bronx than you can on the Eastern Shore. Start making Department Heads and Public Officials accountable, yet get off their backs on stupid things like crossing guards.

A 60-Year-Old Fruitland Man Is Sentenced To 25 Years In Prison For Sexually Abusing A Child

A 60-year-old Fruitland man is sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually abusing a child.

Today, James Lee Elliott pled guilty to Child Sex Abuse of a 10-year-old girl. After hearing victim impact testimony, Circuit Court Judge Donald Davis sentenced Elliott to the maximum sentence for Child Sex Abuse, 25 years in the Department of Correction. This sentence is consecutive to the sentence he’s currently serving for failing to register as a sex offender in February of this year.

State’s Attorney Davis R. Ruark says the sex offenses occurred between the dates of January 1, 2008 and March 10, 2008, while both Elliott and the victim were living in the same home. Ruark says, on one evening the 10-year-old victim was lying on the couch in the living room when Elliott, “Pops” as she called him, told her to “strip” and began to take her clothes off. The young girl attempted to kick Elliott away but he kept coming towards her. Ruark says in another incident, the victim told investigators about Elliott coming at her with a can of whip cream while her mother and brother slept in another room. The victim says Elliott then proceeded to sexually abuse her.

Ruark says the State is extremely pleased with today’s sentencing imposed by Judge Davis. Ruark says, “Given Elliott’s propensity for sexual crimes, this 25-year sentence will deter Elliott from ever sexually molesting and abusing any child again, for the rest of his life.”

U.S. Jobless Rate Hits 26-Year High

23 States Report Higher Unemployment in Sept., Led by Michigan at 15.3%; Though Layoffs Slowed, Companies Reluctant to Hire

(AP)
Unemployment rose in 23 states last month as the economy struggled to create jobs in the early stages of the recovery.

While layoffs have slowed, companies remain reluctant to hire. Forty-three states reported job losses in September, while only seven gained jobs, the Labor Department said Wednesday.

Some of the states that lost jobs still saw their unemployment rates decline, as discouraged workers gave up looking for work. People who are out of work but no longer looking for jobs aren't counted as officially unemployed.

That trend was evident nationwide in September, as nearly 600,000 people dropped out of the work force, the department reported earlier this month.

The U.S. jobless rate rose to 9.8 percent in September, a 26-year high, from 9.7 percent. Some economists estimate it would have topped 10 percent if there had been no change in the labor force.

There were some bright spots in Wednesday's report. The Midwest region, hit hard during the recession by job losses in manufacturing, saw its unemployment rate drop for the second straight month, to 9.8 percent from 10 percent in August. It was the only region where the unemployment rate declined.

The Midwest benefited from sharp drops in unemployment in Indiana and Ohio. Indiana's jobless rate fell to 9.6 percent, from 9.9 percent in August and 10.7 percent in June.

Indiana added 4,400 jobs, the most of any state, due to gains in the manufacturing and service sectors.

Ohio, meanwhile, saw its jobless rate drop to 10.1 percent, from 10.8 percent in August and 11.2 percent in July.

Still, Ohio lost about 6,000 jobs in September, and much of the improvement in its unemployment rate came from discouraged workers leaving the work force.

STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST WITH THE HELP OF COMCAST ON DEMAND

(Bel Air, MD) After receiving information from a Comcast viewer, Maryland State Police make an arrest of a wanted fugitive in Harford County.

Troopers from the Bel Air Barracks arrested Sean Stephen Garrison, 37, of Joppa, Maryland after receiving information from a Comcast viewer who had seen him listed on Maryland’s Fugitive Files On Demand. Comcast’s Fugitive Files is a public service that gives digital cable customers the opportunity to view profiles of local criminals On Demand and submit anonymous tips to help police capture fugitives. The arrest of Garrison adds to a growing list of criminals nationwide that have been located through the help of Comcast viewers.

“As law enforcement officers, we are committed to protecting our citizens and working with them to keep our communities safe,” said Colonel Terrence B. Sheridan, Superintendent of the Maryland State Police. “Comcast’s video on demand technology provides us with an opportunity to disseminate information and enlist citizens’ help in tracking down known criminals, like Garrison.”

The Maryland State Police issued an arrest warrant for Garrison on the charges of robbery, second degree assault and motor vehicle theft after he allegedly assaulted a Harford County woman in her residence on September 7 and subsequently stole her car and purse. A Comcast viewer phoned in an anonymous tip on September 21 as to Garrison’s location after seeing the suspect’s profile on Fugitive Files On Demand. Garrison was immediately arrested when law enforcement responded to the address.

“Comcast continuously looks for ways to leverage its video on demand technology to make a positive impact in our local communities,” said Noah Kodeck, director of On Demand programming and production for Comcast. “Our partnership with the Maryland State Police is just another example of how our signature programming is engaging our customers and helping make a difference.”

The first public service program of its kind, Fugitive Files features regularly updated video profiles of some of Maryland’s most wanted criminals, along with information on how those with knowledge about the persons in question can contact the police anonymously. Each criminal profiled on Fugitive Files has a warrant out for his/her arrest for violent crimes including murder, assault, rape and gang violence, among others. Comcast Digital Cable customers can view Fugitive Files at any time and at no additional cost by tuning to Channel 1 or pressing the On Demand button on their remote controls, then clicking on “Get Local,” selecting “News & Information,” then “MD Fugitive Files.”

Fugitive Files On Demand is just one example of the wide variety of original, video on demand programming offered by Comcast. Comcast’s signature On Demand service offers more than 10,000 titles each month, with the vast majority available at no additional cost for customers to watch when they want, with the ability to pause, fast-forward and rewind. With more than 13 billion views to date, Comcast’s On Demand service features everything from movies, music and top TV shows to the most popular kids, sports, lifestyle and local programs. Comcast customers are currently selecting On Demand more than 300 million times every month.

Oil Nears $82 Per Barrel As Dollar Hits New Low

Oil prices hit new highs for the year Wednesday just as the dollar fell to new lows against the euro, showing how much the weak U.S. currency has come to dominate energy markets.

Benchmark crude for December delivery jumped more than 3 percent, or $2.71 to $81.83 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It got as high as $80.70.

Gasoline futures spiked 4 percent and Brent crude rose $2.48 to $79.72 on the ICE Futures exchange.

The run-up in prices came within minutes of a government report showing that crude supplies in the United States are growing and that refiners are producing very little gasoline because consumers aren't using as much.

"The dollar obviously is the overriding factor," PFGBest analyst Phil Flynn said. "It's not about demand I can tell you that."

Refiners are shutting down plants, a combination of little demand and rising crude prices that wipe out profit margins.

That can have real consequences at the pump. The government reported Wednesday that gasoline supplies fell by more than 2 million barrels last week.

There is usually a lag between the direction of crude bought and sold on Nymex and the price that people pay for gasoline to fill up their cars.

Crude began to rise on Oct. 7, when a barrel cost less than $70. Prices moved higher for eight days in a row, nearly reaching $80.

Average retail gasoline prices started ticking higher one week later and a gallon has increased every day since, up about 12 cents in one week to $2.596 on Wednesday, according to auto club AAA, Wright Express and Oil Price Information Service.

A gallon is still 29 cents less than last year at this time, when gas prices were in full retreat.

Tongues Will Wag Over Sexy Lambert Photos

Plus: Magazine goes Gosselin-free; governor offers to ‘help’ ‘SNL’

"American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert already cleared up speculation about his sexuality, telling Rolling Stone in June that he is gay, but adding that he does “make out with girls from time to time.” Still, despite that, some might be surprised by his recent photo spread in Details magazine.

In one photo, Lambert is tongue-to-tongue with a woman, and in another, Lambert (clothed) is with the same woman, who’s wearing nothing but Lambert’s hands, which are strategically placed.

Lambert does some explaining in the accompanying interview: “I am gay, but I like kissing women sometimes. Women are pretty. It doesn’t mean I’m necessarily sleeping with them,” he told Details. Also, don’t discount the entertainment factor at play. “It’s all fantasy — that’s what entertainment is. I’m here to entertain you, and if my sexuality is apparent and you respond to it, and you’re attracted to it, then great, I’m doing my job.”

Dems Eye Insurance Antitrust Protections

House and Senate leaders hope to have legislation ready within weeks

WASHINGTON
- Top Senate Democrats intend to try to strip the health insurance industry of its exemption from federal antitrust laws, according to congressional officials. It's the latest evidence of a deepening struggle over President Barack Obama's effort to overhaul the health care industry.

If enacted, the switch would mean greater federal regulation for an industry that recently has stepped up its criticism of portions of a health care bill moving toward the Senate floor.

Congressional officials said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, arranged to make the announcement Wednesday, joined by Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York.

Daily Presidential Tracking Poll

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 27% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -13. That’s just a point above the lowest level ever recorded for this President.

It’s also the sixth straight day in negative double digits, matching the longest such streak (see trends)

.
Just 31% of voters believe that Congress has a good understanding of the health care proposal.
Thirty-nine percent (39%) of Republicans have a favorable opinion of their party’s national chairman, Michael Steele.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates also available on Twitter and Facebook.
Overall, 47% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Fifty-three percent (53%) disapprove.

The New Jersey Governor’s race remains a toss-up. Over the past week, both Jon Corzine and Chris Christie lost ground while support independent candidate Chris Daggett grew and so did the number of undecideds. Republicans hold a five-point advantage on the Generic Congressional Ballot. In Illinois, the race for Barack Obama’s Senate seat is a toss-up.

Please Do Not Photograph The Presidential Limo

Tommy Christopher is Asylum's White House correspondent.

As a rookie White House reporter, I often find myself gormlessly wandering into places I'm not supposed to be, so I was grateful not to be the guy who got hassled by the Secret Service for snapping an unauthorized picture of the Presidential limo yesterday.

I was copping a smoke outside the briefing room, where the Secret Service was prepping two of the presidential limos to take him to an event at the Ritz Carlton. They were checking something under the hood when one of the agents pointed through the briefing room window and shouted, "Hey! C'mere!"

Apparently, he had seen one of the cable news tech guys shooting a picture with his iPhone. He made the guy come outside, and show him that he had deleted the photo.

See, there's this rule.

When the deputy checked the neighborhood, the deputy located a male subject, later identified as Larry Brown. The deputy observed that Brown was wet and covered with dirt. Upon further investigation, the deputy determined that Brown was responsible for the theft of the Jeep and the subsequent accident that left it in a ditch.

Incident: Assault
Date of Incident: 20 October 2009
Location: Jersey Road, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Shade P. Williams, 18, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 20 October 2009 at 1:30 PM, deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a subject brandishing a handgun in area of the intersection of Jersey Road and Bailey lane in Salisbury. Upon arrival, the deputies met with two victims who advised they cutting across private property, crossing from Bailey Lane and heading towards Hearne lane, when they were accosted by the resident. The resident began yelling and threatening the subjects for cutting across his property. The two subjects informed the deputies that they continued walking on Hearne Lane when they were confronted by an individual, Shade Williams, who approached in a vehicle and pointed what the victims recognized as a handgun at them and threatened to hurt the victims. The two victims believed this was in retaliation for cutting across the property.

THE FINAL INSPECTION

The Marine stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

'Step forward now, Marine,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?'

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
'No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear...
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the Marine waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

'Step forward now, you Marine,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell.'

Mr. Hennasey was in court with Mr. Dickens at his side this past spring for 2 separate charges. (1) DUI where he plea was guilty and Judge Mumford slapped his hand (2) the second charge was a DUI committed a couple days after the prior one. This time he ran into a house with his vehicle fled the scene and drugs were in the vehicle... Mr. Hennasey plea was guilty and Judge Mumford immediate slapped his other hand....

The priors for Mr. Hennasey range from gun violations, DUI's, 1ST degree burglary, bad checks and etc. and this is a guy that is doing work for a retired police major who owns a real estate company in Ocean City."

Folks, this happens all the time. Don't just ask for their license, confirm it with the State. Hopefully Officials in Ocean City are reading this Post as well as the State to make sure everything is in legal order.

Missing The Point In The Fox-White House Spat

Ruth Marcus of the Washington Post has a remarkable column today about the White House's decision to ostracize Fox News. She's entirely right about this both being a waste of time and creepily reminiscent of the anti-media jihad waged by the Nixon-Agnew regime. I've already said as much, as have others. But what's remarkable about Marcus's piece is the depressing conventionality of its circle-the-wagons rationale, something I've grown accustomed to seeing whenever the mainstream media seeks to protect one of its own. "

Certainly Fox tends to report its news with a conservative slant -- but has anyone at the White House clicked over to MSNBC recently?" Marcus asks. "Or is the only problem opinion journalism that doesn’t match its opinion?"

Pardon my sarong but is she for real? Why straddle the fence to project a phony objectivity when most regular Americans - the 99.9% who don't work at mainstream media outlets - can figure out when they're getting the story with a dash of opinion on the side. I don't believe the White House accomplishes much by keeping this story alive, but it's hard to take MSM bloviators seriously when they claim to be shocked - shocked - that someone is calling out Fox for being sympathetic to conservatives and the Republican Party.

Don't fret about the psychological repercussions on Rupert Murdoch and his minions at Fox. They're big boys and girls over there and they can take criticism. (Well, sometimes.) But after serving as a sounding board for the Bush administration's two terms, this may be the network's high water mark. Management must revel in being a White House target. Taking on the most powerful institution in the world - well, it doesn't get any better than that. Just the other night, in fact, Bill O'Reilly was triumphantly reporting on his show that the spat had done wonders for Fox's ratings. Wolf Blitzer can be excused for banging his head against the wall in frustration.

Watchdog Report: $700B Bailout Working

However, Government's Rescue of Economy has Sparked Anger and Confusion Among Americans

(CBS/ AP)
A government watchdog said the $700 billion bailout for the financial industry played a major role in rescuing the economy over the last year but also engendered anger and distrust among Americans because of secrecy and confusion about the way the program was handled.

The mixed and blunt assessment by Neil Barofsky, the special inspector general in charge of oversight for the bailout fund, comes just as the administration is taking steps to wind down and refocus the Wall Street rescue effort. Barofsky's conclusions are in a quarterly report scheduled for release Wednesday.

Most alarming, Barofsky said Americans may never see any profit from the auto companies or AIG, two major beneficiaries of bailout money, CBS News White House correspondent Chip Reid reports.

Asked to give TARP a grade, Barofsky told CBS' "The Early Show" his would be an "incomplete." As for whether taxpayers can expect to see all the bailout money repaid, Barofsky was equally blunt: "unrealistic."

An administration official said Tuesday that the bailout effort's signature initiative - a capital purchase program that aimed to inject $218 billion into banks - would effectively wrap up at the end of the year.

But even as the administration aimed to refocus the massive Troubled Asset Relief Program on small businesses and homeowners, Barofsky said the effort to save the nation's financial sector cam at great cost to taxpayers, to the integrity of the financial system and to the public's perception of the federal government.

"Despite the aspects of TARP that could reasonably be viewed as a substantial success," he wrote, "Treasury's actions in this regard have contributed to damage the credibility of the program and of the government itself, and the anger, cynicism and distrust created must be chalked up as one of the substantial, albeit unnecessary, costs of TARP."

Barofsky said public suspicion was fed by Treasury's decision not to require banks to report how they used their rescue money and its "less-than-accurate" statements describing the financial condition of nine large banks that benefited from large infusions of aid. The TARP program began under the administration of President George W. Bush and has expanded under President Barack Obama.

Madoff's Fall: Topless Waitresses To Prison Pizza

Snapshot of life behind bars contrasts with fallen financier's high-flying past

NEW YORK
- Fallen financier Bernard Madoff has plunged from his Manhattan penthouse to the lower bunk of a cell he shares with a drug offender at a federal prison, where he eats pizza cooked by a child molester and hangs around with a mob boss and a convicted spy, according to legal papers filed Tuesday.

The snapshot of Madoff's prison life — and a contrasting picture of a former high-flying life laced with cocaine and salacious parties — are in a legal complaint filed by Burlingame, California-based lawyer Joseph Cotchett, who represents about a dozen victims of Madoff's massive investment Ponzi scheme. Cotchett interviewed Madoff in July at the Butner Federal Correctional Complex near Raleigh, North Carolina.

The lawyer found the mastermind of one of history's largest financial frauds now reduced to nighttime walks around a prison track for fun, according to the new filing. It builds on one investor's existing civil case against various Madoff associates and financial institutions; the suit claims they were complicit in Madoff's fraud or should have stopped it. Madoff has consistently said he acted alone.

Look Who's Married To Obama's Media 'Controller'

Official attacking network, anti-'birther' lawyer a couple

Attacking Fox News and defending President Barack Obama is a family affair for Anita Dunn, the White House communications director who has blasted Fox as an arm of the Republican Party and talked about "controlling" the news media.

She's married to Robert Bauer, the chief of the political law group at Perkins Coie, the Seattle law firm hired by the White House to defend President Obama in court cases challenging his "natural born" citizenship status in the United States and thus, his eligibility under the U.S. Constitution to be president.

Dunn is targeting Fox News with criticisms emanating from the administration that it isn't even a news network, while Bauer has done his best to prevent the American public from seeing a wide range of President Obama's records that could prove, or disprove, his eligibility to occupy the Oval Office under the Constitution's requirement that the president be a "natural born" citizen.

Democrats Lock Republicans Out Of Committee Room

Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-N.Y.) locked Republicans out of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee room to keep them from meeting when Democrats aren’t present.

Towns’ action came after repeated public ridicule from the leading Republican on the committee, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), over Towns’s failure to launch an investigation into Countrywide Mortgage’s reported sweetheart deals to VIPs.

For months Towns has refused Republican requests to subpoena records in the case. Last Thursday Committee Republicans, led by Issa, were poised to force an open vote on the subpoenas at a Committee mark-up meeting. The mark-up was abruptly canceled. Only Republicans showed up while Democrats chairs remained empty.

Republicans charged that Towns cancelled the meeting to avoid the subpoena vote. Democrats first claimed the mark-up was canceled due to a conflict with the Financial Services Committee. Later they said it was abandoned after a disagreement among Democratic members on whether to subpoena records on the mortgage industry’s political contributions to Republicans.

Justice Says N.C. City Must Have Party Affiliations To Protect Black Voters

The Justice Department determines that white voters in Kinston, N.C., will only cast their ballots for black candidates if they run as Democrats, overruling an attempt to end the use of party affiliation.

The Justice Department has overruled a small North Carolina city's attempt to end the use of party affiliation in local elections, according to a report in The Washington Times.

According to the article, the Justice Department ruled that party affiliations are needed in part to protect equal rights for black voters. The department determined that white voters in Kinston, N.C., would only cast their ballots for black candidates if they run as Democrats.

The decision was made by the same department official who dismissed a case against New Black Panther Party members in Philadelphia.

But local residents and politicians are complaining that the Justice Department has gone too far in its latest decision, and are threatening to challenge the decision in court.

One former Republican state lawmaker told the Times the move was "racial as well as partisan."

Stabenow Rejects Demands For 'Doc Fix' Pay-Fors

Senate Leader Harry Reid's attempt to push cost of increased Medicare payments to a stand-alone bill failed due to bi-partisan opposition. To avoid pushing the total cost over $1.4 TRILLION Reid sought to hide costs in a stand-alone bill. This is the first of three 'parlimentary' tricks planned to hide costs of health care bill by using cloture. The cloture would abruptly end all debate and issue would be voted on immediately.

GOVERNMENT TAKE OVER OF THE INTERNET? YES

The United States Government and the Federal Communications Commission decides on Thursday whether to move forward with so-called "net neutrality" regulations.

The net neutrality movement is an outgrowth of the media reform project of radical left-wing activists like Robert McChesney who seek to destroy private control of the country's communications systems. For seven years proponents of government takeover have been searching for egregious behavior by evil phone and cable companies that would dictate the required government takeover.

Net neutrality, the Holy Grail of left-wing activists, will force phone and cable companies to treat every bit of information the same way. Networks cost billions to build and maintain, and if there is uncertainty whether there will be a good return on that investment, private funding will dry up. Then the government will step in, spending billions more of our tax dollars on a government-owned and controlled internet. Susan Crawford, the Internet Czar, calls the $7.2 billion of stimulus money she is helping spend for broadband, a "downpayment on future government investments in the internet."

The FCC will vote Thursday on a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on Net Neutrality. If this passes, it will start a public comment period.

The FCC created a website at www.Openinternet.gov for comments on the government regulating the internet under the so-called net neutrality rules. Click on "Join the Discussion" and share your comment for keeping the internet in private hands.
