The United States Postal Service Is About To Crash on The Eastern Shore

Be prepared for some major changes with Local Postal Service hours.

That's right, in the near future you are going to see Parsonsburg and Willards close their doors an additional FOUR hours a day. Some Eastern Shore locations have already started the shorter hours.

Times are a changing, literally

I am all for the closure of these small units, they are bleeding money left and right and need to be closed permanently. How many shipping stores are now left in the Salisbury Area? Only one I can think of this is independently owned is the UPS Store and how it is staying alive I do not know. If you want to ship a package (which is the USPS bread and butter right now) drive to Salisbury. You will have to drive to Salisbury if you want to ship UPS or Fedex unless you do it online.

I have been an advocate for them reducing or closing these locations for years, it needs to be done. Everyone can't have a local Post Office and then wonder why they are bleeding money, something has to go.

I rely on the USPS for my paycheck, I would rather see them consolidate small retail locations than go belly up. Times are changing and we all have to get with the program or go out of business. Sell those properties and reinvest the money into new trucks for the couriers or a raise.

There is really no reason to have a Post Office in Parsonsburg, Pittsville, Powellville and Willards. THe mail could be handled by Berlin or Salisbury.

Hsve you ever had to stand in long line at the post office in Salisbury?
I love to go to Parsonsburg post office. You don't have to walk far, the employees are very friendly and are happy to be of assistance to you. They appreciate your business and tell you so.

Typical failure business model: beat the competitors by offering less service for more money. Close those office & other alternatives will start to surface.

And Food Lion sells books of Forever stamps at face value.

I live in Parsonsburg and I am all for closing the Post office completely there! The workers are so unprofessional it is hard to believe they have kept their jobs. They all need to be fired! One postal worker wrecked 3 vehicles in as many weeks due to alcohol, yes it was proven, and that person is still employed! They also have had numerous reports of theft - and those were packages with tracking!

As far as I know there hasn't been a post office in Powellville in a long time. I think they should close the ones in Pittsville and Parsonsburg.

Anyone living in Pittsville can drive to the one in Willards. If they should need to expand they have plenty of room around them to do so.
Anyone living in Parsonsburg can drive to Salisbury.

I'm not sure about Parsonsburg but I know the mail is no longer sorted in Pittsville. Willards does all the sorting and the carriers deliver from there to Pittsville. The only reason I see that they are keeping it open is for the Post office boxes.

And what's up with my National Enquirer always being delivered late?

Are you kidding me? Being a resident in Willards and having a PO BOX as well, this is absurd. Driving to salisbury or ocean city? No way

the USPS is done. They are rearranging furniture on a sinking ship. Packages are handled by UPS and Fedex more efficiently. E-mail, other internet communications, and text messages are taking over every other area once handled by the USPS. Just like newspapers - they are dinosaurs. Say goodbye to them and accept the future.

9:28 If you had direct deposit of our pay check, you wouldn't need the USPS service.

The best Post Office around is the one on College Avenue, near Ace Hardware. They are very friendly and willing to help. Leave this one open.

I always find the workers in the Parsonsburg post office very helpful and kind. I hope they keep it open.
