You should feel safe today. The Salisbury Fire Department has 4 fire crews on duty. Truck 1, Truck 2, Engine 16 and the Million dollar Tower 16. Four paid fire crews on duty and only three paramedic ambulances are on duty. Every day the calls for service are always mostly medical calls and the brains leading the Salisbury Fire Department think it's a better idea to put that extra manpower on a ladder truck instead of another ambulance.

Every night and weekend the Salisbury Fire Department has 2 paid fire crews in service at Station 16. That's right the medical calls for service outnumber fire type calls 10 to 1 and the Brains or lack of puts paid fire crews in front of paid paramedic crews. The tax paying citizens should be outraged. They may not be outraged because they haven't yet had to wait for an ambulance from Delmar, Parsonsburg, Hebron or Fruitland. Wake up people your lives are in the hands of Jim Ireton and Rick Hoppes.

Agreed!

I still believe that we do need a paid fire crew, MAYBE 2. However like you said Salisbury has a lot more EMS calls than they do fire calls. They should be using atleast 4 paid ambulance crews, minimum.

Engine 16 is chasing the ambulance to Cross Creek Drive in the County as we speak. The call is for a 79 y/o male who fell out of his chair complaining of no injuries. Just needs help getting up??

Ambulance chasing out in the county and now the Mayor Jim Ireton and the fire chief Rick Hoppes is going to send a bill to the county for that fire engine response demanding to get paid for it.

Meanwhile, WHAT IF, there is a house fire on Cypress Street across from the fire station in city limits and the bridge is up?

How can they justify charging someone for helping them get up when they go door to door checking the batteries in smoke detectors and installing new ones. Isn't that both considered helping the community?

We keep hearing that the firemen can run the fire trucks or the ambulance why does the ambulance need help? The ambulance can check to make sure the patient is ok and if not transport them. There is no need for a fire truck to respond to such a call.

Yesterday morning at 7:50 an ambulance coming off Naylor street by Ponzetti's was driving in a reckless manner. They ended up going all the way down Northwood Drive. To where? Breakfast at the new DD?

Rick Hoppes and Jim Ireton charge the county for any "call" that is issued an incident number regardless if the were dispatched or self dispatched. Regardless of squirreling and ambulance call are squirreling a dispatch to a volunteer station. It doesn't matter to Rick Hoppes or Jim Ireton. They are trying their best to force out the volunteers and Station 1 as we speak. Hoppes has Trolls out their trying to dig up the dirt on the volunteers. Hoppes is also trying to make standards harder for the volunteers which aren't necessary.
