Officials Defend Ocean City After Another Dangerous Ranking; Report Called ‘Misleading’ And ‘Inaccurate

OCEAN CITY — Ocean City officials this week again defended the resort’s reputation as one of the most dangerous places in Maryland after a California-based real estate brokerage firm released its rather dubious semi-annual list for the state.

Movoto, known for its data-based research into trend and conditions in different areas around the country, on Tuesday released its 10 Most Dangerous Places in Maryland, and Ocean City again found itself near the top of the heap. In April, Movoto released a similar listing of the 10 most dangerous places in the state in terms of crime statistics, causing an uproar locally about the obvious flaws in the research.

Ocean City was ranked the most dangerous place in Maryland in Movoto’s spring list, but had dropped to fourth on the new list released this week. Topping the list was Elkton, followed by Baltimore, Bladensburg and Ocean City. On the Eastern Shore, Cambridge ranked fifth on Movoto’s list released on Tuesday, while Salisbury came in sixth. The rest of the Top 10 were jurisdictions on the western side of the Chesapeake Bay.

Sure, everyone else is making it up. So, is there a conspiracy afoot? Did a group of people that hate Ocean City get together and hatch this elaborate scheme to defame the to ten cities in our illustrious state? I fail to see the motive for releasing false information. However there is a huge motive to cover this information up or to call it into question.

The citizens are sick of lies.

I guess the bus driver that was mugged around 1AM by 2 passengers at Baltimore and Talbot was a lie also?

Salisbury is always listed as one of the worst cities for crime. I am shocked that it is listed as #6, but anyone with a brain knows why it's not at the top and that is because Jimbo, Jake, Barb and Matt are covering up and lying about the actual crime being committed. They aren't even charging many criminals so that the numbers don't have to be reported. It's all a game for Jim, Jake and Matt to make it look like they are the reason crime is down. It looks good for a politician's record to make it look like they are doing a great job. I have been a victim of numerous crimes in this city and I don't see it ending. I am stuck here because I can't afford to sell my house in this arm pit of a town. Crime is very high and so are rental properties. This city has 90 to 95% of the homes being rental property.

Don't forget to factor in the unwritten rule for Pennsylvania criminals, when you're in the mood for a little killing or evil doin, go to Ocean City the fun place to do it. Ride the rides, get some popcorn, get drunk and then get busy.
